Follow Me Friday is a book meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read. #FF is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort
between bloggers. In order to join in the fun, all you need is well . . . A book blog :)
And this week's question is (drum roll):
Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
A: I know how most of you are open minded to all sorts of genres, but I pretty much draw the line on erotica and horror. I do enjoy the occasional sex scene in romance (para-romance) stories, but a strait out erotica is just not my thing. That would be like watching XXL or something. I just feel it's wrong. And horrors scare me. In fact, horror books scare me more than horror movies. I think the reason has something to do with having the mind imagine the horror pictures for itself, and then it remembers them permanently. *shudders* Nope, definitely not my thing.
You got my answer, what's yours??
oh of course! erotica definitely not my thing. This is a big reason why i moved from reading Adult to Young Adult actually. And i agree on the horror books, i still haven't picked up a horror book so i can't say whether it's a genre I will avoid because i don't like it, but I'm scared to start it!
ReplyDeleteoh and you're right, harry potter is fantasy, that was really stupid of me :P in my defense its really early here for my brain to function properly :P

Thanks for following :)
DeleteI do read some adult, but I pick the authors that I like (who have YA too). But mainly YA is my thing. :)
I don't get scared watching horror movies but every now and again one will creep me out, but horror books don't do anything for me for some reason. 'Course, the only one I've read is Anna Dressed in Blood. Frost and The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer were supposed to be creepy but I didn't think they were. I followed back :)

Thanks for stopping by. Lots of Horror today. I can understand the erotica I only read if I'm already familiar with the author from other stuff.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! The same for me. Horror and Erotica.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Horror, I have only read a few books from that genre, but only the wimpy horror's.

I love horror- the creepy ghostly kind with the windows banging and psycho-babble and stuff. But I hate the drippy, bloody kind. And erotica is a complete no-no for me. You know, some people write horror-erotica. Shudder....
ReplyDeleteLOL I know. To be honest, the ghostly kind of the horror is something I consider from time to time, but the psycho, murder, bloody kind... nuh-huh
DeleteYou're the third blog I've visted that doesn't like horror. I guess its an aquired taste. LOL Thanks for following me at Reading With Monie.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy horror. I wont watch a scary movie, but I do enjoy scaring myself from time to time with a creepy book ^.^

I find horror books to be scarier for that exact same reason. But I'm weird and like being scared so I don't mind reading them. I also find pure erotica stories to be a turn off. I need a little substance at least in the plot to keep me interested.
