Book Review: And "With All My Soul" too!!!

With All My Soul (Soul Screamers, #7)
Well, taking in account that I was very disappointed by the previous installment, I didn't have very high hopes for this one. I even decided to wait it out, and pick it when I was sure I was ready for it. But guess what? All that preparation was futile. It didn't really prepare me for what I got.

With All My Soul exceeded whatever high expectations I might've had! It was brilliant, it was mysterious. It was nicely written, nicely thought out. Nicely done overall. Or no, wait. Nicely isn't a strong enough word to summarize my laughter, my tears, my expectations, my hopes for this one. Oh no.

Let me say that Rachel Vincent has once again..... (full review here)

Cover Reveal: With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent

Awesome news you guys! The cover for the last Soul Screamers novel has been revealed. Officially! And it's gorgeous!!! I don't know if it will be the same for both the UK and US releases, since the UK ones are quite different to begin with, but oh my! Just looking at it takes my breath away!!! A huge thank you to whoever designed it! :)))) And even though book 6 was sort of lacking in the story development (imo), I'm still very much in love with the series, and I can't wait for With All My Soul to come out! :)

The announced date of publication so far is April 1st, 2013 (yeah, it's April Fool's day... umm... hope it's not a joke, cuz that would be a pretty bad joke indeed), which is less than an year away, but to us fan-readers it's gonna feel like a lot more. *sigh*

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

Book Review: "Before I Wake" by Rachel Vincent

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)

Okay, so I was extremely excited about Before I Wake (BIW), before I adore Rachel Vincent as a writer, and I'm a huge fan of the Soul Screamers series. And when I got my ARC from Mira Ink, I was super happy, almost jumping around with joy!

But.

This book was nothing like the rest of the series. The plot was confusing from the very beginning; no resolution (even a momentary one) was provided; there was too much murder and blood spilling; and because of all that I felt very very disappointed.

To be fair, I might have had very high expectations about BIW, because the previous installment, If I Die, was simply smashing! But I believe that Rachel should've known that she raised the bar, and that she had to exceed that bar in BIW. Unfortunately, in my opinion, she didn't manage it. (read the whole review here)

In her shoes ~ 18 ~

Every Tuesday I will pick a character I've read about recently, perhaps even the week before, and try putting myself in her shoes. What things would I do differently? What have I learned from her behavior? That kind of thing. You are welcome to participate if you want, just please link back, so we could build a nice community of followers. Thanks!!! :)

You guys all know how obsessed I am with the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent. You know how excited I was when I got an ARC of Before I Wake. And even with my impatience to read it and all, I waited for a friend to get her copy so we could discuss it together.

And to be honest, after reading it, I don't think I'd like to step in the shoes of any of the girls. Mostly because I wouldn't want certain things to happen to me, as they did to them.

Perhaps the safest choice would be Sabine, the living breathing nightmare. She's kick ass again in this book, and I think I'm beginning to like her straight-forwardness. She knows what she feels, what she wants... sometimes she doesn't know how to get it, but I have the feeling she's smart and creative enough to figure it out.

Sabine's sort of on the sidelines, but I think her strong character brings her up front every time she speaks, or even rolls her eyes. I'd love to see more of her. Perhaps a short story or novella dedicated all to her. That would be nice :)

So, whose shoes would you like to step into this week?

In My Mailbox, sort of

Hey guys!!!
Those of you who have been following my posts know that I'd been approved to get an ARC of Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent. And you know what?

It arrived on Friday!!! Yay!!!! Sure, I got the UK cover, but who cares? The story inside is what counts.

So, I'm dying to read it, but I promised two of my GReeps that I'd buddy read it with them, so I'm gonna have to wait a little while longer.

Oh, and guess what other books I got over the weekend from Netgalley!!!

Awesome, no??? I think I can count myself blessed with good fortune! :)

My first hard copy ARC!!!

You guys, I know this may be nothing new to you, but it is to me. I live in Bulgaria, which makes it pretty hard to get a hard copy ARC. Let alone of a favorite book. Which is why, now that I'm getting my first such ARC I'm sooooo excited!!!
Yeah, okay, granted-I'm more excited about the book itself, because I'm talking about.........

...............Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent!!!!!!! Wouldn't you be excited if it were you??

The question this week is:

Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?

My answer:

The first dad that popped up in my head was Aiden (I hope I spelled it right), the father of Kaylee from Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series. He had left Kaylee to the care of his brother for 16 years. But now that she needs him, he's back. And he's devoted to her completely. I understood his reasons for leaving, but better yet, I loved him that he is now here with her. He's truly an amazing dad character :)

Well, that's my answer, what's yours?

Please leave links to your FF's, so I can stop by!! Oh, and if you're a new follower, let me know so I could return the favor!

Waiting on Wednesday #15

Photobucket

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

My pick this week is:

Title: Before I wake
Series: Soul Screamers, Book 6
Author: Rachel Vincent
Release date: June 26th, 2012

Summary:
I died on a Thursday-killed by a monster intent on stealing my soul. The good news? He didn't get it. The bad news? Turns out not even death will get you out of high school...  Covering up her own murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh expected. After weeks spent "recovering," she's back in school, fighting to stay visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning time alone with her new reaper boyfriend. But to earn her keep in the human world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal status won't keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn't just gambling with her own life....

Why I want to read it:
Why? Because this is one of my favorite series of the decade!!! And it's like a drug, so I NEED IT!!!

What are you waiting on this week?

Waiting on Wednesday....

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.
Well, I'm really waiting on "Never to Sleep" by Rachel Vincent. It's really a companion novella to the Soul Screamers series, but if I have to judge by the previous books, it's going to be great :)
So here's what it's all about:
Don't Close Your Eyes.
Sophie Cavanaugh is not going to let her freak of a cousin's strange psychiatric condition ruin high school for them both. Not after all the work she's put into cultivating the right look, and friends, and reputation. But then, Sophie sees something so frightening she lets out a blood-curdling scream—and finds herself stuck in a bizarre parallel world where nothing is safe and deadly creatures lurk just out of sight, waiting for her to close her eyes and sleep...forever.
Could this world be real? Or does insanity run in the family...?
