Waiting on Wednesday #1

Photobucket
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog post by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights releases we're eagerly awaiting.

My pick this week is:

#1

Title: The Memory of Sky
Series: A Great Ship Trilogy, Book 1
Genre: Sci-fi and Fantasy
Audience: YA
Author: Robert Reed
Release date: March 4th, 2014
Publisher:  Diamond Book Distributors

Summary:

Diamond is an odd little boy, a seemingly fragile child - who proves to be anything but. An epic story begins when he steps into the world his parents have so carefully kept him from, a world where gigantic trees each house thousands of humans and another human species, the papio, rule its far edges. Does Diamond hold the promise to remake one species and, perhaps, change all of the Creation?

Why I want to read it:

The cover looks gorgeous and I love epic stories. This one definitely sounds catchy!

#2

Title: Song of the Fireflies
Series: single
Genre: romance
Audience:  NA
Author: J.A. Redmerski
Release date: February 4th, 2014
Publisher:  Forever(Grand Central Publishing)

Summary:

THE TRUTH WILL SET THEM FREE
Brayelle Bates has always been a force of nature. Even as a child, Bray's wild and carefree spirit intimidated everyone around her. The only person who's ever truly understood her is her best friend, Elias Kline. Though every fiber of her being wants to stay with Elias forever, Bray can't bear the thought of him discovering her agonizing history. She's done everything she can to keep him at arm's length, including moving away. But their undying bond was too strong a pull to deny, and Bray couldn't survive without him. Now she's back home with Elias, and things have never felt more right-until one fateful night changes everything.

Elias vowed never to be separated from Bray again. So when she decides to flee in a desperate attempt to escape her destiny, Elias knows he must go with her. As the two try to make the most of their circumstance, taking up with a reckless group of new friends, Elias soon realizes there's a darkness driving Bray he can't ignore. Now in order to save her, he'll have to convince Bray to accept the consequences of their reality--even if it means losing her.
Why I want to read it:

Pretty cover and a guy with stubble? Heh, count me in! Besides, I've heard a lot about Redmerski, so I thought I'd check it out, you know?

So how about you? What amazing book are you waiting on this week?

NOTE: To those of you who haven't noticed, I'm featuring a giveaway of 1 copy of JLA's White Hot Kiss. Yeah, you got it - it's the 1st Dark Elements book. The trick here is, if there are A LOT of entries on it, I'll be choosing TWO WINNERS!!! So, go sign up and tell your friends! TO GIVEAWAY!

  9. While it's not entirely clear from the front cover and it being marketed as a "novel", The Memory of Sky isn't the first book in a trilogy, it's the entire trilogy under one cover. It was written as three shorter novels, but Barnes & Noble indicated that they'd be more interested in stocking it as a single big book. Reed discusses it on his site (the second entry down, sorry I can't link to it directly):
